Big Sur Race Report: Part 2
Now heading toward mile 15, I enjoyed the remainder of the downhill portion. After mile 15, we began the roller coaster that would continue for the rest of the race. Each time I had to climb another hill, I began taking … Continue reading

Summit Day
Here’s a little known fact about me. I have a minor obsession with books, movies and documentaries about climbing Mt. Everest. The stories are compelling because you get to watch someone push themselves to their maximum limits — physically, mentally and … Continue reading
Banking sleep, nutrients, and good thoughts
I stay up late most nights of the week. It’s rare that I’m in bed before 11:15 pm. Even if I wanted to go to bed earlier, there are late baseball games, night meetings and teenagers to pick up from … Continue reading

Daylight Savoring Time
A few years back I read a book about the origin of Daylight Saving time called Spring Forward: The Annual Madness of Daylight Saving Time. It’s been awhile, but what I remember is first, it is Saving, not Savings. I still say it incorrectly. I also … Continue reading
Hill training recommendations
My marathon training is going very well. I’ve stuck to my program and I’m starting to get accustomed to running in the rain. The weekend long run (this week 16 miles) is just one part of the weekend’s activities, not … Continue reading
Goodnight, moon
Running 20 miles for me is like going to the moon. You may have been there before, but you never really know if it’s going to happen again. Just because you’ve reached a certain distance in the past doesn’t make … Continue reading
